<td align="left"><font style="font-size: 100%;"><b>JOB DESCRIPTION :</b><BR>Under the managerial direction of the Public Works Director, this position will assume full management responsibility for work units and activities including city landfill, household hazardous waste, recycling, sanitation, composting. Recommend and administer policies and procedures. <BR>Must have knowledge of solid waste, recycling and disposal operations that include materials, methods, principles, practices, and equipment necessary for efficient and safe collection/disposal of solid waste. Must possess knowledge of current techniques and methods of collection, disposal, storage, and recycling of solid waste material. Experienced in landfill gas collection and control, groundwater monitoring and pollutant discharge elimination systems; emergency response procedures related to landfill hazardous waste spills, fires, gas accidents, and procedures for notification of regulating authority. Federal OSHA, State and County regulations and City policies governing safe work practices, including use and handling of and proper disposal of hazardous waste, chemicals, and materials. Will service and consult contracting procedures and regulations, landfill reuse and Brownfield revitalization. This position will be subject to noise and fumes from equipment operation; exposure to inclement weather, gas, dust, grease, smoke, potentially hazardous chemicals; and slippery or uneven surfaces.<BR><BR><b>JOB REQUIREMENTS :</b><BR><li> Any combination of education and experience equivalent to: Bachelors Degree in Environment Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field; and at least four (4) years experience in the field of solid waste management including a minimum of three (3) years experience in a supervisory capacity. 10+ years of Solid Waste experience may be substituted for Bachelor's Degree.</li><BR><li> Advanced experience using spreadsheets and word processing software</li><BR><li> Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other City officials, outside government officials, and the general public and to deal with each in an effective, courteous manner</li><BR><li> Read and interpret highly technical and operational documents, manuals, maps, plans and contracts</li><BR><li> Review and evaluate plans and specification for proposed new construction, system design, and operation changes</li><BR><li> Interpret, apply and explain City, federal, state and county solid waste and recycling laws and codes</li><BR><li> Must have valid driver's license</li><BR><li> Must be able to obtain or currently possess Washington State Landfill Operators certification and a Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) certification within six (6) months of hire</li><BR><BR><b>Employer will conduct criminal background and drug screening</b><BR><BR><b>HOURS / DAYS / SCHEDULE:</b><BR>Full time 40 hours per week, to be discussed at time of interview<BR><BR><b>WAGE / SALARY / BENEFITS</b><BR>$63,372.00 to $85,356.00 per year depending on experience/qualifications, plus benefit package<BR><BR><b>CLOSING DATE/DEADLINE :</b><BR>Recruitment will continue until position is filled.<BR><BR><b>HOW TO APPLY:</b><BR>Contact WorkSource to request a referral, application instructions and additional information.
