The Seasonal Recruitment Operations Center is currently accepting applications to fill up to 3 temporary positions at New River Gorge National River. Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow.  Anticipated Entry on Duty: MAY, 2014

AREA INFORMATION: The primary duty stations for these positions are located at either the Grandview Ranger Station located in Grandview, WV or at the Burnwood Ranger Station in Fayetteville. Grandview is adjacent to the community of Beaver which offers amenities of a small town, such as restaurants, stores, groceries, etc.   The city of Beckley is very close by and offers the amenities of a small city.  The town of Fayetteville also offers the amenities of a small town and is close to the city of Oak Hill.  Park housing may be available, but housing for rent or purchase is readily available in cities and towns surrounding the park. Rental and purchase prices of housing is considered moderate. There are many options for outdoor recreation located in the area including whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, snow skiing, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing, camping, etc.  The Gauley and New Rivers (located within and adjacent to the park) offer world class whitewater rapids.

This announcement is being advertised under delegated examining procedures and is open to all U.S. citizens. 

 

This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.
