WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED: Recent graduates who within the last 2 years have completed a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Preference eligible veterans precluded from applying due to military service obligation shall have a 2 year period of eligibility to apply that begins from the date of release or discharge from active duty, but cannot extend beyond 6 years from the date of graduation.

The purpose of the Recent Graduates Program is to allow graduates to gain specialized experience within the Federal civil service in positions related to their academic or career goals.

NATURE OF APPOINTMENT Appointment is in the Excepted service not-to-exceed one (1) year. Upon successful completion of the one year developmental program, the position may be converted into the Competitive service as a term or permanent (career/career conditional) employee. Conversion is not guaranteed and is based on the needs of the agency. Upon conversion this position has promotion potential to the GS-7 and 9 levels.
