The Northern Rockies Servicing Human Resources Office (NR SHRO), Yellowstone, National Park, WY., is currently accepting applications through USAJOBS to fill approximately two Student Trainee positions as Dispatcher, GS-2199-04, at Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. This is a temporary Intern appointment within the Excepted service. Appointments under this Pathways Internship position will be made in not-to-exceed one year increments, with anticipated full time work during the summer season. These appointments may be extended based on funding, work levels and employee performance.
The purpose of the Pathways Internship Program is to provide interns with exposure to public service, enhance educational experience, and support educational goals. The program is formally structured to give interns the opportunity to work in positions related to their academic or career goals.
Under the Pathways Internship Program, interns may be converted to a permanent or term appointment without further competition upon completion of the program requirements. The conversion is not guaranteed and is based on the needs of the agency.

AREA INFO: Yellowstone National Park. Elevation at Mammoth is 6,200 feet. Temperatures vary from an average of 70 degrees in summer to sub-zero at times in winter. Schools are available with (grades K-12) located in Gardiner, Montana, five miles north of headquarters. Free bus transportation is provided for school children between Mammoth and Gardiner. Many community facilities such as stores, a drugstore, motels, and restaurants are available in Gardiner. A medical clinic is available in Mammoth. All other services are available within 55 to 75 miles of Mammoth.
Work Schedule: The work schedule will be full-time 40 hours per week. Will work weekends, evenings and holidays. Depending on funding and work levels, the employee/s may be placed on a part-time work schedule (8 to 32 hours per week), or in an intermittent work schedule which is sporadic and unpredictable so that a tour of duty cannot be regularly scheduled in advance. Federal government dormitory housing may be available at some locations.
