Position Summary: The incumbent of this position works in Compensation and Pensions Service, assisting with examinations for Veterans and separating active duty personnel. The incumbent will inspect each claim request to determine the accuracy and completeness of the exams requested prior to making appointments and that the exams requested match the conditions listed in the claims. The LPN interprets each claim request to ensure that each appointment made is with the appropriate provider for each claim and that the appointments allow for the appropriate length and complexity of the exam. The incumbent will perform systematic reviews of each exam report to ensure accuracy and completeness. The LPN will administer EKGs, perform blood pressure checks, take and process appropriate photos for exams, maintains clinical supplies, correctly enters all data in the patient records, and notifies Veterans of need for follow-up care with a primary care provider. 

NOTE: The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-06. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-04 to GS-06. The LPN Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will review the selected candidate’s qualifications and recommend the grade and step at which the candidate will be placed. The salary is based on the grade and step for the selected candidate.
