POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Surgical Unit (MSU) RN is a registered nurse who will utilize the nursing process and evidence based practice in order to develop individual plans of care for patients in the MSU. The Medical Surgical RN is a key member of the multidisciplinary team. The MSU RN is responsible for patient advocacy, collaboration, with other team members, promoting effective communication and ethical practice. The MSU RN functions within their scope of practice to provide high quality direct patient care to medical and pre/post-op surgical patients. The MSU RN in collaboration with patient and family members builds a patient education plan that meets their educational needs of the patient and the family.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent is a citizen of the United States and a graduate from an accredited program recognized by the VA, (NLNAC, CCNE). Must maintain a current unrestricted RN license in one of the fifty states or territories of the USA, per Department of Veterans Affairs Handbook 5005. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred. The incumbent should have successful clinical practice during which a high level of professionalism, self-motivation, and exceptional internal/external customer service skills.
