The Indian Health Service (IHS), an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services, is responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives. The IHS provides a comprehensive health services delivery system for American Indians and Alaska Natives with opportunity for maximum tribal involvement in developing and managing programs to meet their health needs.

This Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) allows acceptance of applications throughout the year with eligible applicants being placed on the OCA register and referred for consideration as vacancies occur. Appointment: May be Permanent, Temporary, Excepted Temporary, Excepted Time-Limited, or Term with tour of duty of Full-Time, Part-Time or Intermittent. The Agency has option of extending Time-Limited and Term appointments for up to a maximum of four years. Temporary positions NTE 12 months or less are subject to termination at any time. The Agency has option of extending Temporary position appointments for up to a maximum of two years. Positions filled by Commissioned Corps will be Full Time Permanent Positions only.

POSITION DETAILS:
The purpose of this position is to provide dental services including education, diagnosis, preventive, and treatment to the public.

Salary range: $75,427.00- $104,472.00(Annually)
Other additional compensation for which a dentist may be eligible, in addition to their base salary, are a Recruitment and Relocation Incentive (maximum of 25% of base pay); Initial or Renewal of Retention Allowance (maximum of 25% of base pay when necessary); Market Pay, and an Appointment-Above-The-Minimum rate.
Promotion potential: Yes
This position has promotion potential to the GS-12 grade level. If the position is filled at the lower grade, incumbent may be promoted to the full performance grade level once all legal and regulatory requirements are met; however, such promotion is neither automatic nor guaranteed.

Relocation Expenses: Travel Expenses - Paid. Travel, transportation and relocation expenses will be paid primarily in the interest of the government and not in the interest of the selected employee.
