Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.
Serves on call as Medical Officer of the Day on regular rotation with other physicians in the Internal Medicine Service. Call constitutes being available for all emergency medical consultations on the assigned day. May serve as acting supervisor of Internal Medicine during the supervisors absence. Provides assistance to the supervisor as requested in administrative matters dealing with personnel.
May require to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.
Must be board certified in Internal Medicine from the American Board.
