Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Area:

Lake Shelbyville is an 11,100 acre lake located in rural South Central Illinois approximately 60 miles southeast of Springfield.  The project office is located in the city of Shelbyville, population approximately 5000. The authorized project purposes are flood control, recreation, environmental stewardship and water supply.  Lake Shelbyville is an island in a sea of corn and offers numerous outdoor recreation opportunities including camping, fishing, water sports, hiking, biking and large and small game.

Who May Apply:

• INSERVICE ELIGIBLES: Current permanent Department of Army civilian employees within the US Army Corps of Engineers. Any voluntary applications received from DA civilian employees outside of minimum area of consideration which are received to this announcement will be considered.
