WHAT DOES AN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST, ALC APPLICATIONS DEVELOPER DO? An Information Technology (IT) Specialist (Systems Analysis/ Applications Software) ALC Applications Developer uses a wide variety of information, knowledge, and tools to address complex system analysis and applications software assignments each day. As an ALC Applications Developer, the work primarily involves the development and testing of Assembler Language (ALC) software applications on a mainframe platform. In this role, you will be involved in conducting systems analysis to design, document, develop, modify, test, install, implement, and support new or existing applications software products within IRS organizational components. Once at the full working level of the position, the work will involve difficult and complex systems analysis and applications software assignments. At this level you will be responsible for the development of components of national projects and/or lead significant projects assigned to the local IRS installation or lead the local implementation of IRS-wide software projects with little supervisory oversight or guidance.
