JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:

 

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) New England District is responsible for managing the Corps' civil works and military program responsibilities in a 66,000-square mile region encompassing the six New England states east of the Lake Champlain drainage basin. The region has: 6,100 miles of coastline, 171 harbors with Corps improvements, 13 deep draft commercial waterways, 13 major river basins, and thousands of miles of rivers and streams. The District employs over 500 professional civilian employees, with several military officers serving in key management positions. Seventy-five percent of the staff is stationed at the Concord, Massachusetts headquarters, while others serve at Corps project and area offices throughout the New England region.

The District headquarters located in Concord, Massachusetts and is situated approximately 18 miles northwest of Boston, the capital of the state.  Concord has the feel of a suburb with much historical flare.  Not far from Concord center is Minute Man National Historical Park where the American Revolutionary battle of Concord-Lexington took place in 1775.  Concord is part of the Boston metropolitan area with an estimated population of 4.6 million.  The area includes lots of opportunities to participate in various cultural activities, view championship professional sports teams, and take advantage of the numerous nationally recognized higher education institutions and health care facilities that reside in the Boston area.
