About the Position: This position is located at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital (GLWACH), Fort Leonard Wood, MO. You will work under the general supervision of the Chief, Department of Emergency Medicine exercising independent judgment and performance of the full range of diagnostic procedures for patients.

 

Fort Leonard Wood, in the beautiful south central Missouri Ozarks, covers more than 61,000 acres. The fort is located in Pulaski County. Bordering the installation to the north are the towns of Waynesville and St. Robert. The post is two miles south of Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive to the east along I-44 and Springfield, MO, is a little more than an hour’s drive to the west.

Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.

Physician is required to be Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or Family Practice with extensive emergency room experience.

You will be required to work irregular tours of duty on a duty roster system, and accept call responsibility.  This position is considered essential hospital personnel where you may be recalled to duty from scheduled time off in the event of an emergency including, but not limited to, inclement weather.

You must obtain and maintain Adult Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Permanent, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine.
