The Kansas City VA is seeking a Chief Nurse/Co-Leader for Primary Care Service. The Chief Nurse/Co- Leader is accountable to the Chief of Staff and Associate Director of Patient Care Services as a matrixed position.  The Chief Nurse/ Co- Lead for Primary Care in collaboration with the Service Chief is responsible for the administrative/ operational/ financial functions for all the programs within their service line and the formulation of long- and short-range goals and objectives, plan and programs for the service and integrate them with the overall medical center and VISN objectives and plans. The Chief Nurse/ Co-Leader serves as the principal advisor for administration of nursing within the Primary Care Service Line and has a key role in linking nursing improvement and nurse sensitive quality improvement to operational efficiencies. Primary Care Service line includes primary care clinics including community based outreach clinics, nursing within specialty clinics, emergency department, audiology, optometry, dental and employee health. The intensity, activity and broad program mission generate numerous and complex problems which require this person to have outstanding skills and ability in planning, organizing, directing and controlling the programs in order to effectively contribute to the positive impact on the health care delivery system. 

 

The position is a Monday through Friday, day position but special circumstances may necessitate weekend availability. 

 Salary and grade will be determined upon qualifications and experience.

Current permanent VA employees will receive first consideration when filling this position vacancy.  Internal and External Candidates will be considered.

 

Appointment is contingent upon applicant meeting qualifications and the determination of the Professional Standards Board.
