There are currently 5.3 vacancies for registered nurses in our new float team. Applicants will be considered for both full time and part time positions. These positions are for registered nurses who have the experience and skills to work as a float to our inpatient units, which include ICU, ED, med/surg, and mental health. They may be assigned to manage acutely ill patients who may require ventilatory assistance and hemodynamic monitoring, as well as patients in other inpatient areas as needed. The nurse communicates with all patients, family members, internal and external co-workers and customers in a courteous, tactful, helpful, and understanding manner. The schedule will include both eight hour and twelve hour shifts, primarily evenings and nights and will require weekend coverage as well. These positions report to the Nurse Manager of the Float Team.
This announcement may be used to fill identical positions vacated within 6 months of any selection made from the original announcement. First area of consideration will be given to permanent Kansas City VAMC employees. Internal and External Candidates will be considered.
