The Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) service line offers skilled, rehabilitative, palliative and community based services provided by experienced interdisciplinary teams. VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) provides primary and secondary care to a large geographic area that includes 20 counties in Northern Nevada and Northeastern California. Approximately 120,000 veterans reside in this region. The Reno campus operates 64 hospital beds and 60 community living center (nursing home) beds. There are four community based outpatient clinics and one rural health outreach clinic.

Academic affiliations for VASNHCS are the University of Nevada School of Medicine and the East Bay Surgical Program at the University of California, San Francisco. Approximately 45 medical, surgical, psychiatry, geriatrics and palliative medicine residents and fellows rotate annually through VASNHCS. Salary Determination: Market Pay is dependent upon qualifications and will be determined by a Compensation Panel.

Appointment Information: The candidate selected for this position may be placed into a temporary appointment, not to exceed one year and one day, pending completion of the boarding process.
