JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:

  • The work requires considerable standing, walking, sitting, bending and some moderately heavy lifting (i.e. assisting patients). Must be able to hear, have use of fingers and hands and have rapid mental and muscular coordination to simultaneously operate emergency equipment if needed. Emotional stability and intense concentration is required while maintaining composure in stressful situations. The work requires considerable standing and walking, bending and occasional lifting. Must be able to ambulate sufficiently well to make worksite visits and to climb ladders or scaffolding. Work may require lifting up to 40 pounds. Work will require driving from the office to work sites, and at the work sites the wear of personal protective equipment as required/appropriate to include respiratory protection equipment.
  • Work is usually conducted in a health care setting that is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated but may require some outside work during worksite safety visits. There is occasional exposure to infectious diseases and potential safety hazards including slippery or uneven walking surfaces, hazardous chemicals and waste. Must follow infection control guidelines and wear personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer. The majority of the work is performed in the occupational health clinic. While at work sites, may be exposed to hazardous environments including but not limited to chemical agents, biological agents, physical hazards and blood borne pathogens.
  • Duty location:  You will be working in the Preventive Medicine/Occupational Health Branch at Fort Drum, NY.
