Salisbury is a small, historic city located in the heart of the Piedmont area of North Carolina with a moderate climate which enjoys four distinct seasons. It is located on Interstate 85 only 35 miles from the metropolitan area of Charlotte, and 40 miles from Greensboro, and Winston-Salem NC. Salisbury has grown from a small town to a nice small city of 26,548, and is the county seat of Rowan County. It is also the home of three colleges: Catawba College, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Livingstone College.

It has the Salisbury-Rowan Symphony and the Meroney Theatre featuring the Piedmont Players, one of the state's oldest community theatre groups. Rowan County also offers plenty for those seeking recreation. Dan Nicholas Park, Hurley Park, Ellis Park, and High Rock Lake are pleasant options for hiking, fishing, family outing, or a picnic. If you want a quick getaway, it is approximately two-hours to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and three hours to the Carolina Coast. Halfway between Washington DC and Atlanta GA, Salisbury is within easy travel of any major city on the East Coast.
