The Physician Assistant in Surgical Critical Care position is located within the Operative Care Division at the Portland VA Medical Center.
The incumbent is a member of an interdisciplinary team providing medical services to patients in the Intensive Care Unit. The PA works under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician with delineated clinical privileges granted by the Medical Staff. Within the physician/PA relationship, physician assistants exercise autonomy in medical decision-making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.
The Physician Assistant in Surgical Critical Care is accountable to the Director, Surgical Critical Care for assuring the most effective delivery of patient care and trainee education throughout the Surgical Critical Care program while meeting or exceeding performance standards.
NOTE: Must possess or be able to obtain an Oregon Physician Assistant license
