Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:

The work involves prolonged periods of standing and bending to diagnose and treat patient illnesses and/or injuries. Work requires alternate standing, sitting, bending, and fine motor skills during examination. Work in surgery requires a high degree of manual dexterity and muscle strength to hold a position for extended lengths of time. Work requires lifting and positioning patients on the operating room table. Work during surgery requires a high degree of manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate specialized equipment in the operating room.

Work is performed in a clinic setting where exposure to infections and contagious disease is common. Precautions are routine for nearly all situations. The work is performed indoors in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated area. Appropriate precautions are necessary to prevent radiation exposure when using fluoroscopy in surgery. Precautions are necessary to prevent hearing damage from noise exposure to cast removal saws.
