The incumbent serves as the Extended Care Line Director at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC), one of the most complex facilities in the nation. Located on a 118 acre campus, the MEDVAMC is a state-of-the-art facility with 356 hospital beds, a 40-bed Spinal Cord Injury Center, and a 141-bed transitional care unit with over 1,100,000 medical center visits annually. The MEDVAMC is a regional and national referral center for many specialty programs including Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Liver Transplantation, Spinal Cord Injury, Polytrauma, Radiation Oncology, and many more. With its main facility located in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center, the MEDVAMC also operates six outpatient clinics in Beaumont, Conroe, Galveston/Texas City, Lake Jackson, Lufkin, and Richmond Texas.
