One full-time, Registered Nurse position is currently available in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an 8-bed surgical and medical specialty unit for critical patients and the Step-Down Unit (SDU) a 7-bed unit for care intermediate between the ICU and the general medical/surgical units.  The ICU and SDU provide specialized nursing care to patients requiring acute medical intervention with the following common diagnoses: respiratory complications, acute alcohol and/or drug withdrawal, cardiac complications, abuse, pressure ulcers, diabetic ketoacidosis, hypertensive crisis, cardiovascular accidents, psychiatric disorders, urinary tract complications, post operative recovery conditions, and others. Tour of duty is a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays. Salary is determined by the Professional Standards Board based on education, qualifications, experience, and credentials.   This announcement is open to all qualified US Citizens.  More than one applicant maybe hired from this announcement.  First consideration will be given to current permanent VAMC Hampton employees.
