Point Reyes National Seashore was created in 1962 and protects almost 80,000 acres of shoreline, coastal dunes, cliffs, and forests. For more information about Point Reyes National Seashore, please visit our website at Point Reyes National Seashore website.   The Seashore is located approximately 40 miles north of San Francisco, and enjoys a mild, Mediterranean climate typical of the San Francisco Bay area. On average, temperatures range from the low 40's in the winter months into the 80's in the summer. Average rainfall is just over 40 inches per year. The closest community, Point Reyes Station, is a small coastal town with a population of approximately 500 people and is located 3 miles north of Park Headquarters. Two medical clinics, a post office, gas station, grocery store, churches, numerous art/specialty stores, restaurants and delis, and an elementary school (grades 1-8) are located in Point Reyes Station. Complete amenities are located in San Rafael, Novato and Petaluma, located approximately 22 miles from the Seashore. Located in Marin County, this is considered a high cost of living area with limited rentals available in the immediate area.

These are permanent positions, subject to placement in a non-pay status.  Anticipated length of non-pay status is approximately two weeks per year; but may be extended up to six months depending on budgetary constraints and work availability.  One to three positions may be filled from this vacancy announcement.
