US Army Veterinary Services operates as a subsidiary of Public Health Command. Their mission is to provide military veterinary services in support of United States Army Medical Command and Department of Defense missions. The civilian function of the Veterinary Services is a supplemental mission which exists to assist soldiers and their families in the field of animal health and care.
This is a flex 00 position, at the Ft. Richardson Veterinary Treatment Facility. Duties involve considerable physical effort including lifting various items such as animals, feed, or supplies, occasionally weighing up to 70 pounds, bending, climbing, and working in tiring and awkward positions. May use greater strength or agility to capture and restrain stronger or more active animals. Works inside in often poorly lighted areas and often exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, dirt, dust, and dander. Subject to cuts, bruises, kicks, bites, scratches, ticks, fleas, mites, and other zoonotic diseases (including potential exposure to rabies) from animals
