Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position: The purpose of this position is to provide Industrial Engineering Technician assistance in the implementation and operation of the Directorate of Public Works and to conduct engineering studies related to the improvement of work processes and space utilization.

Organization Mission: Public Works mission is to provide services for Fort Polk and JRTC. We provide quality housing, training, maintenance, and community facilities and services in support of the U. S. Army mission and training, as measured by the positive response of commanders, soldiers, and their families.

FORT POLK HOME OF HEROES

The surrounding community of Fort Polk is comprised of the towns of Leesville, DeRidder, New Llano and Anacoco. The nearest cities are Alexandria (45 miles northeast) and Lake Charles (55 miles south). The area is considered rural with Kisatchie National Forest, which offers hunting and recreational activities located nearby. Also, located nearby are Toledo Bend Lake, Vernon Lake and Anacoco Lake for those interested in fishing, boating, swimming etc.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) will not be authorized.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Stateside Driver's license.

Temporary Duty (TDY) 5%.

Position may require overtime.

TARGET GRADE OF THIS POSITION IS GS-09.
