This position is located at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Biloxi, Mississippi. This setting for the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System spans south Mississippi, south Alabama and the Florida panhandle. The position is ideal for those who those enjoy working on integrative, multidisciplinary teams, utilizing evidence based therapies within a recovery oriented approach. The position will encompass a significant amount of integrative treatment, and the position requires a person who is well versed in a variety of evidence-based therapies or one who is seeking further experience with these approaches. Funding is available for learning new therapies and attending conferences. This opening provides the incumbent psychologist with discretion in building their own caseloads and clinics, participating in psychology Masters, pre-doctoral, and post-doctoral training programs, research, and refinement of individual clinical expertise. Psychologists are full members of the medical staff.

The candidate will assess Veterans mental health concerns as they present for their Primary Care visits. Incumbent will consult with physicians, physicians assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, clinical pharmacists, and dieticians in providing patient care. Complete comprehensive intake assessments of Veterans newly seeking mental health treatment, and collaborate with Veterans in planning appropriate treatment. Utilize brief screening instruments as appropriate, including the Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory, and PTSD Check List. Complete Suicide Risk Assessments for all new patients. Offer crisis intervention, safety planning, and admission to inpatient psychiatry as needed. Provide short-term psychotherapy utilizing cognitive-behavioral and supportive therapy techniques to address a variety of clinical complaints including mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, relational concerns, and physical health conditions.
