Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position: The purpose of the work is to ensure the safe and effective operation of range and training facilities. Incumbent administers the range safety program, assesses a broad range of test operations, and carries out measures in order to eliminate or minimize unsafe conditions that have potential to cause personal injury or property damage. The work involves anticipating, preventing and correcting a variety of difficult range problems by planning and coordinating the contractor operation and unit utilization of the range facilities. The work impacts on a large number of user personnel and greatly enhances the training of troops.

Mission: Train Soldiers and grow leaders to deploy, fight, and win. Joint Readiness Training Center: Train Brigade Combat Teams for war.  Quality Installation: Provide a secure, thriving community for Soldiers, Army Civilians, Retirees, and their Families.  Assigned Units: Prepare, deploy, sustain, and redeploy trained and ready forces.  Power Projection Platform: Mobilize, validate, deploy, and redeploy active, National Guard, and Army Reserve Force.

The surrounding community of Fort Polk is comprised of the towns of Leesville, DeRidder, New Llano and Anacoco. The nearest cities are Alexandria (45 miles northeast) and Lake Charles (55 miles south). The area is considered rural with Kisatchie National Forest, which offers hunting and recreational activities located nearby. Also, located nearby are Toledo Bend Lake, Vernon Lake and Anacoco Lake for those interested in fishing, boating, swimming etc.
