This is a Full-Time Temporary position, not to exceed 1 year (with option to extend additional 12 months)

 

This position is located in the Operations Division of the Security Department, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The selectee serves as a Public Safety Center Dispatch Operator providing emergency dispatching and notification services to Shipyard civilian and military personnel and all residents and tenants onboard the Shipyard. These services are provided 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

 

The person selected for this position is primarily responsible for the complete control and operation of an integrated communications system capable of dispatching Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical/Ambulance resources as required. The person selected for this position is subject to rotating assignments, to any shift or workday schedule and is capable of independent actions under limited or no supervision, frequently under periods of high stress.
