NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:  This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.  Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.  Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

This position is located in the State Air National Guard Headquarters in a state comprised of the following: a single flying unit (or a non-flying unit) with one geographically separated unit (GSU), and an overall authorized strength (full and part time drill) less than 3000 personnel. Serves as the principal advisor to the Adjutant General and/or Assistant Adjutant on a broad range of matters concerning the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. Incumbent serves as the state headquarters chief of staff or chief executive officer responsible for a wide diversity of functions including logistics, information systems, manpower and personnel, public affairs, recruiting and retention, civil engineering, medical and state emergency response. Coordinates with Army National Guard senior leadership on joint programs and activities with the state. Broad program responsibilities also include special Air National Guard programs or initiatives such as diversity, family support, employer support, and state partnership programs. Incumbent oversees the development, execution, and evaluation of programs and policies pertaining to the command, control, operation and management of the State Air National Guard.
