Western Area Power Administration - Serving the West with Federal Hydropower We offer career opportunities in a fast-paced, dynamic electric utility industry. We market federally produced hydropower from more than 50 powerplants across the central and western United States and operate and maintain over 17,000 miles of high-voltage transmission lines. The Western Area Power Administration is one of four power marketing administrations within the Department of Energy .

This position is advertised under WAPA-12-MP-309 and WAPA-12-DE-309.  If you are a current federal employee, eligible for reinstatement, or eligible under a special appointing authority, you may apply under either announcement or both.  If you do not meet these conditions, you must apply under WAPA-12-DE-309.

Where will I be on the pay scale?

If you are not currently a Western journeyman in the occupation advertised, you will receive entry-level pay with the possibility of promotion to full journeyman status after meeting certification and performance requirements (generally within 3-6 months). 

Relocation expenses may be paid, at the discretion of the agency, according to Federal Travel Regulation policy and/or budget.
