DUTY LOCATION: This position is located in the Life Support function, 122nd Fighter Wing, Fort Wayne, IN
JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall shop. The position oversees and directs the work of one or more employees who perform work in the Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Repairer, WG-4818-XX occupation who are assigned to the shop. The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory journey level work of the shop.
This job announcement is for employment as an Indiana Air National Guard Technician; a Federal Civil Service position. This is a dual-status technician job whereby you are required to maintain active membership in an Air National Guard unit and are required to wear the military uniform at the workplace. As members of a unit of the Indiana Air National Guard, you will be required to train with your unit, normally one weekend a month and 15 days of annual training each year. Indiana Air National Guard units and members are subject to immediate call to federal or state active duty to meet national or state emergencies.
APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This position is an Indefinite Excepted Service position.
MILITARY RANK REQUIREMENTS: E-5 thru E-7 (NOTE: Applicants who are E-5 must be immediately promotable to E-6)
MILITARY SPECIALITY REQUIREMENTS: Individuals must meet the qualifications for the technician position but will have 1 year from date of hire to be assigned to a compatible AFSC in a compatible unit for the technician position advertised.
